A second profile, for restaurants and tourist accommodation, applies Italian law 34/2026: a window of days from the experience, expiry after two years, no incentives, proof of purchase. On the page the reader sees where each review comes from and which check let it through. The shop, from its panel, sees the linked order and the date, and can export the evidence if anybody challenges it. Reviews collected before installation stay where they are, marked as unverified: deleting them would be a loss, passing them off as verified would be the very breach the plugin exists to avoid. ## Who it is for - shops collecting reviews that want to be able to say how they verify them - restaurants and tourist businesses in Italy, which have their own rules since 2026 ## The law The e-commerce profile applies across the Union, since it comes from directive 2019/2161 transposed into the Italian Consumer Code on 2 April 2023. The hospitality profile applies only in Italy, because article 18 of law 34/2026 covers restaurants and tourist businesses located here. ## Where it stands On hold by choice. On the length of the window the reported text says fifteen days and the press says thirty, and the competition authority's guidance is not out. Writing it now means doing the work twice. ## What it does not do Verifying the purchase is not verifying the opinion: the plugin says the writer bought, not that what they write is true.
