Vaglio Asserzioni Ambientali

Checks the site copy and flags the environmental claims that the Italian Consumer Code prohibits from 27 September 2026 unless they are proven.

mandatory from 27.09.2026 vaglio-asserzioni-ambientali · WordPress

What it does

The free version reads product pages, pages and posts, including SEO titles and descriptions and image alt text, looking for sentences about the environment: "eco friendly", "green", "sustainable", "zero impact", "carbon neutral" and their variants. It tells generic claims apart from those with a qualification next to them and from climate neutrality claimed through offsetting.

For each sentence it gives the class, the article involved and how to fix it. It never deletes and never fixes on its own: the writer decides.

The rules live inside the plugin and run on the site, without sending the copy outside. The Pro, in preparation, adds claims written for the whole product when they only cover a part, promises about the future, home made sustainability marks, the dated report and updated rules: the details are in the Free and Pro table.

Who it is for

  • shops whose copy talks about the environment: cosmetics, fashion, food, home, garden, packaging
  • company sites with a sustainability page or a report
  • agencies and people writing for several clients, who need multisite and a report to hand over
  • anyone who has already been challenged and needs to clean up fast

The law

Legislative Decree 30/2026, which transposes directive 2024/825, adds to article 23 of the Italian Consumer Code the bans on generic environmental claims, on uncertified sustainability marks and on climate neutrality claimed through offsetting. Future promises with no verifiable commitment become misleading practices under article 21. It applies from 27 September 2026 and the competition authority can fine from 5,000 to 10,000,000 euro.

Where it stands

The free version has been on the wordpress.org repository since 17 September 2026: check inside the editor, whole site scan with the state of each finding, column in the lists, a page to paste any text, SEO metadata and image alt text. It installs from the WordPress dashboard by searching for the plugin name. The Pro is in preparation: anyone who presses "Notify me" gets an email when it comes out and has thirty days to buy it at the founder price.

What it does not do

The plugin flags sentences against stated rules. It does not say whether a qualification is true, it does not certify a site as compliant and it is not legal advice. The report says what was found and with which version of the rules.
